Just Another Day

Difference's happen,
even though they do,
I still think of you

The day I came to you,
the clouds cleared,
 the birds sang
the sun shined.

Smiles lifted our hearts,
sparkles light our eyes.

That day I came to you.

The next day comes,
not as fast as the first,
the clouds returned.

It's dark out now,
the sun disappeared
 through the gloom

It starts to rain,
the ground is soft.

Scared to sink in,
I remember
 the difference in you
In me

Time no longer exists,
for my rememberance
stays with me.

It's a new day!

I Am

I am naturally gifted at putting things together, whether it’s a table, making a website, putting a paper together, creating a database, or creatively fixing a broken window. I know how to put things together.

I am naturally gifted at finding my way. Following mapped directions. If I am going somewhere in a city I have been, I usually can see the place in my mind’s eye and be on target. If I have been somewhere once, usually I will find the place again.

I am naturally gifted at noticing details. I spend some time observing people, places, and things and often notice certain details others do not notice. This works all the way down to noticing how others are doing things.  Certain body language and speech language tells me things about another.

I am naturally gifted at listening. This skill I developed through active listening while working customer service oriented jobs and really I have always listen to what others are saying.  Sometimes I hear way too much, things I have no business hearing.

I am naturally gifted at being a go getter. I never really have been one to be a couch potato however I can spend a lot of time on the computer doing nothing! But really I have energy about myself that I know what I want and I go and get it. Sometimes doesn’t always work out for my best interest but do manage to find the lesson.

I am naturally gifted at being the one people come to for help. People come to me for questions and advice. I have had anything from a student asking how to file her paperwork to a girlfriend calling me while her boyfriend is abusing her.
I am naturally gifted with being silly, I have learned to make mundane tasks fun and try my hardest to stay out of the illusion on taking life to serious. Taking life less serious is a continually work in progress.  I have an infectious laugh, sweet loving voice which is loud and strong.

I am naturally gifted with a strong voice that commands attention. I often notice people stopping and looking at me while I speak. Some think my voice is too loud and have often told me to be quiet, which I of course do not listen.

Father of Light Prayer

Father of Light
From whom every good gift comes,
Send your Spirit into our lives
with the Power of the might wind

By the Flame of Your Wisdom
Open the horizons of our minds.

 Loosen our tongues to sing
Your Praise in words
Beyond the Power of Speech

Without your Spirit,
Man could never raise his voice
In words of Peace and Truth.

Jesus is Lord,
Who Lives and reigns with
You, and the Holy Spirit, Angels, Guides and Ancestors

One God
Forever and ever
Amen

Life Takes You Where You Never Thought You Would Go

When I was younger, in middle school and high school, I had a group of girl friends that had my heart. The girls and I would stay at each other’s houses, share clothes, and eat French fries for lunch, have burping contests, laugh till our tummies would hurt and walk to places we only drive to now! Those times were great and I will never forget!

There were four of us girls. Even though we were great friends, we fiercely competed with each other in ways that often made me feel like an outcast. It was hard keeping up with clothes, boys, and who could spend the most and best time with each other.
Back then life at home was hard and not enjoyable for me. There was a lot going on emotionally, so spending time with my girlfriends was my escape from reality.  I experienced suicide; divorced parents at 17, my mother had extreme mental illness, 2 teen pregnancies which one happened through rape, drugs, and alcohol, adoption, and much more. As the days went by, my intense life at home caused me to drift farther away from my friends to the point, I never saw them again. 1991 was the last time we talked. School was too much for me to handle, so I dropped out. Later, I was ashamed at myself for making that choice, but it was what I needed to do.
Years had gone by and I thought about us four a lot. There was even a point in my thought process that I felt like the reason why we drifted apart was because the girls didn’t like me anymore. For a long time my insecurities picked at why we were no longer friends.  I wished life was different and I still had my girls.
Then something happened! In 2008 my life changed in a drastic way. My spiritual awareness was developing fast even though spirituality was introduced to me in 2003.  I still struggled with life, but I seen something I never saw before, A Greater Life. I started to realize that I was the creator of my life, and all the things I had experienced in my past were part of that creation. I decided that I wanted that Greater Life so I began to think of ways to obtain it! I no longer was going to put my life on hold, at 34 I was going back to school.
Then something happened again! FACEBOOK!  In2009, I created myself an account and began to think of all the people I wanted to connect with.  I thought of my childhood girlfriends and low and behold, I connected with two of them. One of them was Danielle. I remember before I clicked “Add Friend”, I was scared, my tummy was in knots and I was shaking. I was a mess! Looking back at that time makes me laugh now!
Danielle accepted my friendship on Facebook and I was excited! 17 years later Danielle and I would meet for the first time for tea at Wild Flower cafĂ© in Tempe, AZ. At that time, I was homeless had no job or money and was upset that I couldn’t pay for my own tea to see my girlfriend. Needless to say the universe works in mysterious ways, because Danielle offered to buy my tea.
When we meet up, Danielle had not changed in looks that much, except she no longer had beautiful long blonde hair, it was now black with green streaks in it. Somehow she makes black and green look really good together!
We sat and talked for awhile. Catching up on lost times. So nervous I was, I began to see this beauty in front of me in a different light! Then the most unexpected thing happened again! Danielle told me she was going to go to, The Southwest Institute of Healing Arts. The same school I had my heart set to go to.  I couldn’t believe it, I was shocked! In my heart it felt like Danielle and I would have a chance to heal something within us that was obviously intended for the both of us. I was even more shocked to learn that I would be a part of Danielle’s spiritual awakening, little did she know at that time! I was truly honored! I never dreamed this would happen, and our reuniting would prove to be spectacular.
Finally the both of us made it! Danielle started SWIHA in Nov. 09 and me, in Dec. 09. 18 years later we would be attending the same school together, taking the same program but with different intentions.
Originally we were to graduate together in 1993, but 2011 is our year! It’s our year to make a difference in ourselves and in others. This year is the foundation of our lives. It’s the beginning of dreams we vowed to make.
Life takes us where we never thought we would go.  This is a true story and it Honor’s myself and Danielle Iott and I am sharing it with the world around me! This story is a great lesson in how the power of the Universe works! Never underestimate where life will take you, you might find yourself in the greatest place of all, LOVE!

Thank you! Namaste,
Danielle Ohlund

Love Speaks

Love Speaks

Around the world many people speak of Love. It is often described as a sense within. For some it’s a warm fuzzy feeling in their tummies or heart. For others it is a knowing. An awareness that expresses something that is indescribable. Popular author, Gary Chapman explains how love speaks through, “The Five Love Languages” The languages are;

1. Words of Affirmation. People relate to words. They are a part of everyday life. A simple “hello” expresses we took time to notice the other person. Many like to say and hear “I love you” and for others positive compliments proclaim love for another. Studies show that relationships are more successful with a ration of 5:1. Five positive compliments or words of affirmations for every one negative. Listen for clues from your expressions to know what your loved ones primary love language.

2. Quality Time. When in relation with others, life can easily get in the way. People crave undivided attention. If they are not getting the support they need negative behavior is displayed and unfortunately negative gets our attention quicker than positive. Our children are prime examples of this. Wanting our attention at times when we are preparing our lives. Stop and take a moment to spend quality time with loved ones, we tell them with our actions, “I love you, and spending time with you is important to me”.

3. Receiving Gifts. For some, giving gifts is another way of saying “I love you” Giving and receiving is a powerful expression of affection that can last a long time. The most meaningful gifts become symbols of love, and those that truly convey love are a part of a vocabulary. When we give, we show our loved ones we took the time to think about them and that they matter. To truly speak this style we must be genuine in our act of kindness.

4. Acts of Service. Often people say an act of service is their primary love speech. The simplest act can be the most rewarding, like holding the door open for someone, helping someone pick up things they dropped or giving a friend a ride. When doing for others we create an environment that is of unity and show that we care by acting selfless instead of selfish.

5. Physical Touch. Physical touch will communicate love more deeply than the words “I love you” or giving a present, fixing something, or spending quality time. We receive love from all the languages, but for many the clearest and loudest one is physical touch. Without hugs, kisses, pats on the back and other physical expressions of adoration, our love tank will remain less than full. Human development requires intimacy. If you use physical touch as an expression of anger and aggressiveness you will hurt the other very deeply, especially is your loved ones primary love language is touch.

Sharing and expressing love is important to everyone. Whether your love language is words of affirmation, quality time, receiving gifts, acts of service, or physical touch, we must be genuine with our intentions. Taking the time to learn each other’s dialect is the greatest act of love for all.

My Dream

I had a dream
A dream about you
Then my dream came true

The dream was not real
Only in my mind did I feel
The real of my dream

I set forth the search
The search of my dream
The one about you

Circles it led me
Right to you
Then I realized
My dream wouldn’t come true

Still I searched to make it happen
With tears I wept
The memories I dreamt

Channeled I did
To find the dream
The one about you

Held close to my heart
The dream I had
Made me fall apart

It was real
For me not to feel
Now I seek to heal
This dream

The days have passed
I remembered
What made me stressed

Now the dream I had
The one about you
Would leave me mad

Not angry but insane
Trying to make
It my gain

Dreams come and go
Forever in my heart
I remember my dream
The one about you

There’s a voice I hear
Let go he says
To the dream I had
The one about you

For in this dream
It’s not about you

But your face is what I remember
In my dream

He reminds me
To always dream
But next time
My dream will not be you
